::: Laidback Luke Interview
Holland’s beloved house music-loving homeboy, Laidback Luke, is on an international mission to rock clubs, win hearts and top charts. A producer and DJ with immense talent, tonnes of spirit and a steely determination to succeed, he has been on a worldwide search for the ultimate in dance floor energy since the mid-1990s. “Music is an amazing tool that can evoke powerful memories and emotions,” says Luke with a smile. “And I will not rest until I’ve given my best: I want to share as much music as possible with as many people as possible.” And with an incredibly impressive discography of 100+ recordings and a DJ diary that takes him from his studio near Amsterdam to clubs all over the world, it would seem that Luke is well on the way to achieve his goals...

::: Photo Album » WMC 2007 | 3.1 Juicy Beach @ Nikki Beach [Miami]

When the listings for the conference mayhem started to appear in December of 2006, one event caught the attention of our eye rather quickly. Perhaps one of the most lauded events of the conference, Robbie Rivera’s Juicy Music Beach Party touched down in Miami at the world famous Nikki Beach. Even though this venue played host to dozens of parties this week, this one will be among the most sought after to attend. Boasting a line-up that screams spectacular, this one was not to be missed. Chus & Ceballos, Mark Knight, Axwell, Steve Angello, Bob Sinclar, Gabriel & Dresden, Richard Dinsdale, Donald Glaude and the Starkillers were just a few of the twenty-something posted including Robbie himself. Once you look past the incredibly ungrateful and pretentious service the majority of the wait staff subject you to, you can enjoy the incredible scenery that this venue has to offer. More then half the club’s floor space is dedicated beach, replete with all the fixings, sand, palm trees, cabanas, cots and beds for lounging in the VIP.

With the sheer amount of incredible talent booked to play, most DJ’s played for an hour and change, but it didn’t affect the vibe in the least. With so many amazing sets its difficult to pin down the most incredible, but most definitely Robbie's signature set mid-afternoon followed by a stormer from Axwell set the party ablaze till the wee hours of the morning. From the moment the party started, until the moment it ended, it was an absolute rager in there. None will forget this one, as it was without a doubt one of the best jams at this years conference. Honourable mention goes out to Richard Dinsdale who persevered through incidents with the security, a torrential downpour and one attempt to close the party from fire marshalls, before finally delivering a killer set to an appreciative crowd.
