::: Laidback Luke Interview
Holland’s beloved house music-loving homeboy, Laidback Luke, is on an international mission to rock clubs, win hearts and top charts. A producer and DJ with immense talent, tonnes of spirit and a steely determination to succeed, he has been on a worldwide search for the ultimate in dance floor energy since the mid-1990s. “Music is an amazing tool that can evoke powerful memories and emotions,” says Luke with a smile. “And I will not rest until I’ve given my best: I want to share as much music as possible with as many people as possible.” And with an incredibly impressive discography of 100+ recordings and a DJ diary that takes him from his studio near Amsterdam to clubs all over the world, it would seem that Luke is well on the way to achieve his goals...

::: Photo Album | 2009.03.29 » Essential WMC 2009 | 6.1 Beatport Pool Party @ National Hotel [Miami]

We had been blessed with beautiful weather all week, so it was only fitting that on our final day the heavens would open up and the rain would fall. Sad it was as the Sunday boasted the best line-up of the week at the Beatport Pool Party and we were looking forward to having amazing beats under the sun. So as the rain lifted and we mustered up enough energy we stumbled over to the National Hotel to check out the scene.

As we arrived we sadly were only privileged to the final few tracks from the flying Dutchman Martijn ten Velden. Word on the street though was Martijn brought this event out of the clouds and put some bodies on the dancefloor with an amazing set. And if the finale was anything to go by we'd agree that this assessment was bang on.

Stepping up to the decks next was fellow Canuck Hatiras. Being the true trooper he is having flown all night from attending the Canadian Juno Awards the night before, Hatiras was in fine form and dropped an amazing mix of fresh new tunes, including the awesome new Granite remix of Hatiras & Flipside's "Open Your Eyes". His energetic blend of house, electro, and nu rave whipped the crowd into a frenzy and got all the bikini bods shaking... the perfect poison on an otherwise dreary afternoon.

As the clouds began to open up again, we said our hellos to the industry types milling about, and with the overwhelming tiredness of the feet taking over, we decided to pack it up and save the last bit of energy for our final soiree that evening.
